Commendations, references

The Swiss School of violin making has been repeatedly commended in recent years. The most important prize won is the «Kulturpreis» 2001 from the city of Berne, with an endowment of 100,000 Swiss francs. The Camerata Bern, conducted by Erich Höbarth, played at the award ceremony. Several of the musicians were playing instruments made at the Swiss School of violin making.

The SINFONIMA trust of insurer Mannheimerversicherung AG acquired a quartet (two violins, a viola and a violoncello) from the Swiss School of violin making; the instruments will be made available to talented young people in the Ukraine. The jury that made the selection was presided over by cellist Siegfried Palm. Other members of the jury included Adeline Oprean, Werner Schmitt and Dr. Stöckbauer (Mannheimerversicherung AG).

The Moscow-based quartet has played instruments from the Swiss School of violin making on numerous occasions at concerts given in Switzerland.
