«Der Goldene Bogen» («the Golden Bow»)

International award granted by the Stiftung Geigenbauschule Brienz trust.

The Stiftung Geigenbauschule Brienz trust undertakes of its own accord to grant the «Der Goldene Bogen» award regularly for the purpose of fostering the manufacture of violins and bows and, in particular, Swiss activity in this area. The commended musicians, instrument makers and sponsors are rewarded for outstanding endeavours in the sphere of string instruments.

On the occasion of the Meiringen music festival 2010 (50th anniversary), Quatuor Ebène with Pierre Colombet, Violine / Gabriel Le Magadure, Violine/ Mathieu Herzog, Viola / Raphaël Merlin, Cello is selected to win the award. The prize, an engraved golden bow, is manufactured by Johannes and Marianne Finkel of the bow workshop Bogenwerkstätte Brienz AG.
