For 25 years, the Brienz Violin Making School Foundation has been awarding outstanding musicians with the \u2018Golden Bow\u2019. The award ceremony traditionally takes place during the opening concert of the Meiringen Music Festival Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Merel Quartet has performed extensively in Europe in venues like the Wigmore Hall, Tonhalle Z\u00fcrich, the Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Ittingen Whitsun Concerts, Lucerne Festival, Salzburger Festspiele and Kunstfest Weimar. Known for their vivid performances, the quartet has excited audiences in Italy, France,  Germany, England, Poland, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The quartet enjoys collaborations with artists like Ruth Ziesak, Juliane Banse, J\u00f6rg Widmann, Diemut Poppen, Natalia Gutman, Nobuko Imai, Thomas Demenga, D\u00e9nes V\u00e1rjon, and Alfred Brendel.  Known for their versatility, the Merels perform an extensive repertoire spanning three centuries from Bach and Purcell through to contemporary masters like K\u00fartag, Saariaho and Holliger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
