Members of the Merel Quartet and students of the Conservatoire de Musique Paris discuss what makes string quartet playing so special
In connection with the award ceremony of the ‘GOLDEN BOW’, the violin making school invites interested music lovers to a concert talk in our chamber music hall. Olivier Krieger, co-director of the violin making school and master violin maker, will host a discussion between members of the legendary Merel Quartet and students of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, Paris. The focus will be on THE STRING QUARTET – the special features of this type of symbiotic music-making, the repertoire and the demands placed on the instruments in this particular chamber music formation.
During the concert, the music students will perform excerpts from their current quartet repertoire, which they are rehearsing on instruments from the violin making school.
After the concert, we look forward to continuing the discussion with you over a bowl of soup.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Entrance is free – donations welcome – registration requested.
