Concours international de lutherie, Paris 2026

After successful participations in 2022 and 2024, the Swiss School of Violin Making once again achieved success at the Concours international de lutherie 2026. The school was awarded a bronze medal as well as the jury’s special prize “Coup de Cœur”, granted for outstanding craftsmanship. First and second prize were awarded to the French violin making school, the École nationale de lutherie de Mirecourt, to whom we extend our sincere congratulations on this well-deserved distinction.

This year’s edition brought together nine schools presenting a total of 15 instruments. Across the entire competition, 75 instruments from 22 countries were evaluated by an international panel of experts.

The Concours international de lutherie is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the field of violin making worldwide. In the “Talents de demain” category, violin makers in training are assessed according to the highest standards of craftsmanship, design, and tonal quality. Receiving the jury’s special prize highlights the high quality and distinctive profile of the training at the Swiss School of Violin Making in direct comparison with leading European institutions.

This success confirms the school’s sustainable educational approach and strengthens its international visibility. It is also the result of the continuous support of donors and sponsors, whose commitment makes it possible to foster young talent and provide opportunities for international comparison. Their engagement makes a vital contribution to the preservation and further development of violin making education in Switzerland.
