Training costs and financial support

Training at the Swiss School of Violin Making involves tuition fees as well as expenses for tools and materials.

The tuition fee is CHF 20,000 per year. This does not include the cost of purchasing tools and materials or a share of the costs for excursions.

Swiss trainees generally receive financial support from their canton of residence, which may cover up to CHF 17,000 of the annual tuition fee (as of 2026/27). This cantonal contribution is not guaranteed and must be applied for. If the canton of residence does not contribute, or covers only part of the tuition fee, the amount payable by the trainee increases accordingly.

Trainees from European countries outside Switzerland must cover the full tuition fee themselves. We actively assist them in finding potential funding sources. In cases of financial hardship, the Swiss School of Violin Making Foundation may award scholarships upon application.
