Training costs and financial support

Training at the Swiss School of Violin Making involves tuition fees as well as expenses for tools and working materials and general living costs. Tuition fees amount to CHF 20,000 per year. This does not include the cost of purchasing tools and working materials, contributions towards the cost of excursions or living expenses.

For apprentices from Switzerland

Apprentices from Switzerland generally receive financial support from their canton of residence. Depending on the canton, this contribution may cover up to CHF 17,000 of the annual tuition fees (as of the 2026/27 academic year). If the canton of residence does not provide a contribution or covers only part of the tuition fees, the amount to be financed privately increases accordingly.

For apprentices from other European countries

Apprentices from other European countries are responsible for paying the tuition fees in full.

Funding options

We actively assist apprentices in identifying potential funding organisations. In cases of financial hardship, the Swiss School of Violin Making Foundation may award a scholarship upon application.
