Andreas Hochuli

Instructor for Restoration, Photography

Andreas Hochuli completed his training as a violin maker at the Swiss School of Violin Making in Brienz. He subsequently studied conservation and restoration at the Bern University of the Arts; his master's thesis on varnish retouching for historical string instruments received an award in 2016. During his studies, he gained experience in various violin-making workshops, including those in Bern and Paris. Today, Andreas Hochuli works as an independent restorer of string instruments with his own studio in Bern. His focus lies on the contemporary conservation and restoration of historical string instruments.

He has been teaching restoration, photography, and modern technologies in violin making at the school since 2019.
